Balloon Enteroscopy in South Delhi
Balloon-assisted enteroscopy uses a long endoscope with an overtube and balloons to advance deep into the small intestine — through the mouth or the anus — to biopsy, cauterise bleeding vessels, remove polyps and dilate strictures found on capsule endoscopy or imaging.

When it is needed
Lesions seen on capsule endoscopy or CT/MR enterography that need biopsy or treatment; obscure GI bleeding; small-bowel Crohn's strictures needing dilatation; retrieval of a retained capsule; polyps in Peutz-Jeghers syndrome.
How it is done
Under anaesthesia, in the endoscopy suite. The route (oral or anal) is chosen based on where the lesion is expected. Takes 60–120 minutes; usually a day-care or one-night admission.

Benefits
Avoids surgery for many small-bowel problems and gives a tissue diagnosis where capsule cannot.
